Most Breakage Begins in the Box, Long Before the Truck Rolls

When something shows up cracked, follow the trail back and it points to the packing far more often than the pavement. Think of a kitchen shoved into boxes near midnight. Think of a mirror packed lying down when it needed to stand on edge. Think of stemware handed down two generations, undone by a single hard stop on the FDR. Let our crew own the entire job, materials and labor both, and your week loses one ordinary day, and you spend nothing at all on packing tape.

Everything the Pack Includes

  • The full materials bill on us, plain boxes right through the specialty and oddly shaped containers
  • Heavy dish barrels and narrow picture crates designed to keep the fragile things intact
  • A separate wrap around each dish, each frame, each glass
  • Wardrobe cartons lifting a closet off its rod with the garments left hanging
  • A counted, room-labeled manifest of every box, folded into your inventory

What Rolls In On the Truck

The crew pulls up stocked floor to roof, sparing anybody the chore of fishing castoff boxes from a Chelsea bodega’s recycling under the July sun. This is what rides along:

Supply What it does
Boxes in three grades Separates books, pantry items, lamps and everyday goods by how heavy they run
Reinforced dish barrels Carries plates and glassware, each piece getting its own wrap first
Narrow art and mirror crates Keeps framed work, mirrors and glass tops standing on edge
Hanging wardrobe boxes Moves closet garments straight in on their hangers
Kraft paper plus bubble wrap Builds an outer shell and packs cushioning in around the breakables
Tape, markers and labels Closes the carton, reinforces the underside, notes a room on top

The Shape of a Packing Day

Loaded up from minute one, the crew works the place a room at a stretch, beginning where nobody ever looks and saving the kitchen until last. Anything delicate draws a wrap of its own before a box ever meets it. The moment a box is taped shut, the crew notes its room and adds it to the running tally, so what would otherwise be a blind dig through nameless boxes turns into a quick, sorted unpack. The bottom of every box takes a second strip of tape, since around here a carton can pitch down a pre-war stairwell, drop from the tailgate while the truck sits double-parked on a one-way block, or weather a cloudburst before it reaches the next place.

What Stays Behind

A short list never rides the truck: anything perishable, live rounds, hazardous materials, and open containers of liquid, because carriers reject them no matter how well you’ve sealed the top. Should you want it, we’ll unpack at the far end, but only by request. As for the guarantee, it covers the boxes our own crew sealed; cartons you assembled and taped yourself fall outside it.

Pricing

What it runs tracks the supplies and the labor each apartment calls for, and the charge rides above the moving cost itself. Broadly, the flat bands reach from $550 for a studio to $3,900 on a three-bed; packing carries a figure of its own, locked once we’ve gauged the volume of china and stemware that needs protecting.

Mike, Tony and Luis arrived to move an 500 lb arcade table from our upstairs game to our garage. They called prior to arrival and arrived early. They pulled the job off without any issues. Fast, reliable, courteous and friendly. Would call Marley Moving again for any future moving needs.

Service FAQs

What people usually want to know about this service

Are the boxes and tape an add-on charge, or part of the price?
Part of the price. A full pack carries the cardboard, the kraft paper, the tape, and every specialty container along with it. You make no run to the hardware store, and no one is dragging discarded boxes out of a recycling pile behind a deli on the Lower East Side.
Can you handle only the kitchen and leave the closets to me?
Sure, that's a partial pack, and we field that ask constantly. A lot of New Yorkers hand us the kitchen plus the china hutch, since those hold the genuinely breakable things, then handle their linens and paperbacks themselves. Just point us at which rooms to take and we'll price that scope.
What actually protects the framed art and the family stemware in transit?
Dishes and glassware ride in dish barrels with a paper layer set between each one. Mirrors and framed work travel upright inside crates built to fit them. Every piece our crew wraps gets logged on the manifest, sits under the damage protection, and carries a nine-month window to file a claim.
Is packing done the day ahead, or entirely on the morning of the move?
On a full apartment we generally arrive a day early, which leaves moving day free for the freight-elevator window and the load itself. For a compact studio or a one-bed, the wrapping and the loading fit comfortably inside one stretch from morning into the afternoon.
